What is ElectroAcupuncture and can it be helpful?
EA is a procedure in which pulses of weak electrical current are sent through Acupuncture needles into Acupuncture points in the skin.
Acupuncture, itself, can produce analgesic effect. When Electroacupuncture is done, it can be more effective than manual acupuncture. This isn’t the only method, electrical current is used to stimulate an analgesic effect, we see this in TENs, cold laser, or even with skin patch electrodes.
Clinical studies have sown ElectroAcupuncture can induce the release of enkephalins and dynorphins in both experimental animals and humans. This can be effective in cases where pain needs to be addressed. This includes pain conditions, depression, anxiety, muscle spasms, stroke, gastrointestinal disorders, and drug addiction.
